About This Place

Storheims Family Restaurant in Iron Mountain, MI, is a delightful haven for lovers of classic American fare with a charming Swedish twist. Nestled conveniently along US-2, this family-owned eatery welcomes guests into a warm, bustling atmosphere that perfectly complements its comforting menu offerings.

The cuisine at Storheims is a celebration of hearty, familiar flavors crafted with care. Breakfast aficionados will find joy in dishes like the Steak and Eggs and the irresistibly fluffy Cinnamon French Toast. Those craving something unique should not miss the Swedish Pancakes with Custard and Strawberry, which Megan Mulholland thoughtfully praised for their yumminess, despite the busy buzz of the restaurant. For a well-rounded start, the Deluxe Swedish Pancakes Breakfast and Veggie Omelette offer both comfort and variety.

If lunch or dinner is on your mind, the menu’s diverse offerings shine. The Bacon Cheddar Burger and Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries satisfy traditional cravings, while adventurous palates can savor the lovingly prepared Swedish Meatballs Dinner, homemade with a rich, savory gravy that Michelle Miller described as “wonderful” with a “flavor depth” that truly stands out. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza and Club Sandwich are also crowd-pleasers, highlighting the kitchen’s ability to balance comfort with inventive American classics.

From appetizers like Battered Cheddar Cheese Curds and Beer-Battered Onion Rings to stunning dessert options such as the indulgent Turtle Sundae praised by Ashley Yaldo for satisfying any sweet tooth, each item offers satisfying textures and flavors that invite guests to linger. The use of quality ingredients, including touches like Al Johnson lingonberries in syrups, adds that special regional flair.

What truly sets Storheims apart is its genuine family-friendly vibe. As Meagan Elston remarked, it’s a “hidden gem” perfect for families looking for great food at a reasonable price coupled with friendly, welcoming service. The steady stream of regulars and newcomers alike speaks to the restaurant’s reputation for consistent quality and that homey feeling of genuine care in every dish.

Whether you’re stopping in for a leisurely breakfast or gathering for a hearty dinner, Storheims Family Restaurant offers an inviting atmosphere and honest, satisfying meals rooted in classic American comfort and Swedish heritage. We wanted to try the Swedish pancakes, which were yummy. It was a popular place so busy and you had to be patient. The cinnamon rolls were yummy but piled with very sweet frosting.

The food is okay, but nothing more. Don't expect culinary masterpieces; expect simple American cuisine with some Swedish accents.

We ordered the Sampler plate to try a bit of everything. The quality was outstanding. The cinnamon bread was delicious. The meatballs were wonderful with a delicious gravy of flavor depth. The Vienna custard dipped French toast stood on its own! The custard gave it an elegant taste. The sausage links were quality and very good. The maple syrup was nice quality. They use Al Johnson lingonberries for the Swedish pancakes and it was a perfect compliment. My 15 year old daughter said it was the best breakfast of her life. The staff was so friendly and welcoming!

Exactly what you would expect from a family restaurant. I got the mini burger and it was the perfect size if you’re not too hungry. My boyfriend got the fried fish sandwich and he said it was good and loved the bread it came on. Sides were fries and onion rings. They were both exactly as expected. Nothing special. We got the turtle sundae. I would recommend to get it if you have a sweet tooth but also to share it. It’s really a lot.

I LOVE Storheims! It's such a cute little restaurant with such delicious food and custard! I usually get their breakfast but I've gotten their pizza too and I love it! Their Swedish pancakes are great too I always get them with custard and berries.
